I have always loved real estate, but not how the business of real estate worked. After my first five successful years in the business I realized it was time to change how consumers experience the entire real estate transaction. With that in mind, “The Around Town Team” was born. Our focus is simple: provide honest and timely service, superior and tangible marketing, and always guide our clients based upon real-time data and statistics. It is our sincere hope that this transparent approach will bring a sense of calm and clarity to the closing table.
Education and Training
I received my B.A. in Politics and Speech Communication from Ithaca College and earned my Masters in Public Administration from the Rockefeller School at SUNY Albany. I am of course a fully licensed real estate agent in the state of Connecticut and a proud card-carrying member of the National Association of Realtors, Connecticut Association of Realtors, and the Newtown Board of Realtors. My network of Realtors expands throughout the United State enabling us to place you with capable professional in the event that we can not serve you directly.

After working at high level national marketing and business development positions it became obvious to me that my life and hence the lives of my family were passing me by through the windows of trains and airplanes. It was time to make a change. But where could I use all I had learned in sales, marketing and customer service? Real Estate was a natural fit. In 2007 I entered real estate with my father-in-law, Bob Tendler. Who, with more than 30 years in the business running Newtown’s most successful Real Estate office, Bob Tendler Real estate, Bob was the perfect mentor.
I now live in Newtown with my wife Jessica, our kids Emily and Ian and our dog Charlie. I also serve as a Police Commissioner for Newtown. I spent my youth in the Bucks County, Pennsylvania area and am now very proud to call Connecticut my home.

Lauren Auresto, Team Member & Realtor
Growing up in Brookfield, I always knew I wanted to return to the area to raise my family and work. My husband Stephan, our young son and I live in Newtown and have fallen in love with its small town charm. Having grown up one town over I am able to call upon an incredible network of people that are able to assist my clients through the home buying process. Though I work with an array of clients from many walks of life, I get great satisfaction working with first time home buyers. I pay close attention to the needs and wants of my buyers, and recognize that purchasing a home is not a decision made in one day. I pride myself on being aware of the market and my client’s needs so I can match them with the perfect home.
I received my B.A. in Corporate Communications with minors in Business and Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin. I worked for several years in marketing and advertising, honing the skills that would one day assist me in properly promoting homes to the right buyer. After several successful years in corporate America I made the jump from the board room to the classroom and worked as a High School teacher. As a teacher I learned great patience and while sharpening my organizational and presentation skills. My experiences thus far have served me and my clients quite well. I look forward to serving the Newtown/Brookfield area for years to come.

Jennifer Kelley, Team Member & Realtor
Jennifer has lived in Newtown for over 20 years. Having grown up here she knew it was the perfect place to stay to raise her family with her husband Patrick and daughter.
Jennifer comes from a strong background in finance with over 10 years experience consumer products finance. She received her B.S. from Western CT State University and her M.B.A from Fairfield University both with concentrations in finance. Her financial background will help her successfully guide her clients throughout the entire process of listing their current home to purchasing their future home.
Given her history with the area she has a wide range of contacts stemming from her community involvement, her family owning local businesses for several years, and her husband’s involvement in local community banking.

Growing up Kris was always working in the housing business. Spending every summer working with his father in the construction business, he grew a passion for houses. Living in Newtown for over 20 years he has also grown his knowledge of the Newtown and Fairfield county housing market. Went to school in Virginia at James Madison University and earned his Bachelors in Exercise Science. After graduation Kris opened his own Business with his brother in Newtown.

Bob Tendler, Private Broker and Advisory Team Member
Bob became a licensed Realtor in 1976 and started by renting apartments in Bridgeport, CT. In 1977 he moved to Newtown and began his sucessful sales career. In July of 1980, Bob opened Bob Tendler Real Estate and by 1983 became the top real estate firm in Newtown. The company continued to maintain the #1 position in sales, listings sold and sales volume for Newtown residential sales over the next 20+ years.
He sold his company to Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in 2004 enabling the office to be a part of the #1 real estate company in CT. The office continues to be #1 in Newtown! After selling his company, he stayed on as Manager until 2006 and then became a member of the “sales team”. Bob’s 30+ years of experience has enabled him to become a skilled negotiator and a specialist in the Newtown real estate market.
Bob is a two time president of the Newtown Board of Realtors, served as a director for over 15 years and honored twice as Realtor of the Year. He is extremely active in community affairs, having sponsored youth athletic teams as well as donating time and funds to may local groups. A prominent fundraiser, Bob established a benchmark for community involvement, having raised over $500,000 for numerous organizations. Hi, I’m Chris. I am the Owner and Principal Photographer for House Pics, LLC. I started this company because I I really enjoy taking pictures. Photography has not only become a craft for me over the years, but more importantly it has become a passion. Shooting Real Estate offers challenges in capturing the most optimal views, and I thrive on seeing the results my clients gain from my photos. I am motivated by the positive feedback I get from my clients. For this, I continue to master my techniques, upgrade my equipment and build on what has become a nice foundation for me.
I started working with Realtors about 3 years ago when I was asked to shoot a house for a friend of mine who is a local agent. Since that time, I have shot over 50 houses for that friend and watched him succeed as one the area’s top Listing Agents, the #1 Listing agent for his office, and the top 1.5% throughout CT and top 5% nationwide in 2012. The extra steps he was willing to make for his clients went a long way, and I have proudly and humorously been marketing myself as “The Reason” behind his success. Since then, I have captured houses for many realtors all over the state of CT, and helped many agents earn top-dollar for their listings.
